Ward and Ward Mental Health Services, Inc. is Hiring an Accountant (Part-time) Near Silver Spring, MD

Ward & Ward Mental Health Services, Inc. (WWMHS) provides community-based support to Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in Washington, DC. We encourage our Supported Persons to develop a positive attitude towards living and learning, and we seek to enable our persons to become as independent as possible.

The part-time Accountant will be responsible for ensuring financial accounting activities are accurate and completed in a timely manner. The position is tasked with managing aspects of our Supported Person’s financial records, performing analytical work and reconciliations, and assisting with audits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial records for supported Persons, including, but not limited to: Collect and review cash receipts for purchases; Make deposits into Person’s bank accounts; Communicate with bank representatives regarding monthly bank statement activity; Reconcile accounts.
  • Review and process Credit Card reports and receipts submitted by cardholders on monthly basis. Routinely review credit card receipt submissions for proper documentation.
  • Assist the Accounting/Finance Department with daily, monthly, and year-end financial activities.
  • Support Accountant and Administrator in preparation of financial reports.
  • Support and assist with preparation for various audits.
  • Manage inventory of supplies for administrative office and group homes, ensuring an adequate supply of materials are available, and replenishing supplies as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting (minimum).
  • 3-5 years of related accounting experience.
  • Experience working in the IDD community a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using a personal computer, including knowledge and skill in Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks software.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail required.
  • Ability to complete tasks/projects in a timely manner while producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well independently ad collaboratively with internal departments and staff for positive outcomes.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent follow-up/follow-through to achieve desired results.
  • A high degree of integrity and accountability.
